When I presented this to be critiqued by Academy Critics they were as shocked as I was shocked by how shocked they were. I was point blankly asked: "Do you know how aggressively feminist this image reads?" I replied, simply "Yes, I do." After a long pause they just nodded and said "Good." And that was that; I suppose that was the best critique I had.
I have a very strong love of Art History and it is always colliding with what I think Art is as my perception changes daily about it, and those ideas in-turn collide with my interpretations about philosophies and my understanding about societal understandings about Art. So it all gets collaged.
I am exploring these ideas through many texts about this subject; all though it is not directly related, one was: 'The Invention of Hysteria' by Georges Didi-Huberman available via:
